You’re at a hotel and they happen to provide free continental breakfast. You walk down and look around. You see muffins, bagels, pastries, and all of the treats that you want to avoid. Do you walk to the restaurant next door to stay on track? No!
Instead, you can navigate yourself through the continental breakfast like a pro.
It is possible to find some healthy options at a continental breakfast. Having a balanced breakfast will ensure that you start the day off right, and it will keep you from over-eating later in the day.
When making your plate, keep in mind the three macronutrients (protein, carbohydrates, and fat). Your plate should contain all three of these macronutrients.
Here are some examples of what your balanced continental breakfast might look like:
1. Greek yogurt with 1 tsp of nuts and a hard-boiled egg
2. Turkey sausage, hard boiled egg, and an apple
3. Oatmeal with 1 tsp of nuts and turkey sausage (2)
4. Oatmeal with 1 tsp of nuts and 1/2 scoop protein powder (bring from home)
5. Oatmeal and a hard boiled egg
Also, avoid fruit juices, which are loaded with sugar. Instead, have whole pieces of fruit.
Just because you are eating healthy does not mean you need to skip out on the free breakfast offered at hotels! Save money and stay on track by learning your options and keeping your meals balanced.
What will you do this holiday season to stay on track while traveling?
